Kendall makes the calls!

This is not RC2 nor will there be a RC3. It's the real deal! Now all we have to look forward to is 1.1 and the subsequent releases...

someone needs to give distromania a talking too...

Release notes doesn't say so.

And I just caught that it calls the release RC2 in there as well.

I just changed it to say "Freespire 1.0 Release Notes." Change it back if needs be.

Then, if THIS one doesn't support dist-upgrade, this install is HISTORY. Kanotix can do it, Ubuntu can do it, Debian has been doing it for years, but THESE people can't get it right.

they can get it right but im sure we neecded to wait for stable trees for one before it got started. There are other areas that they needed to concentrate on before the "luxuries". And to answer your questions i tried to go from rc1 to 1.0 final and no go. Maybe they will have it working to go from 1.0 to a newer release later.

Welp, that did it. Nuked the blasted thing, and going back to Debian. At least dist-upgrade WORKS there.

Don't abandon us berfelferd!!! No you can go if you really want to. It's all about choice.

I want dist-upgrade just as much as the next person. Though what would be best is to have the option in CNR. Or dare I say... Synaptic.

Is the desktop still based on KDE 3.3.2? I was hoping that it would been bumped up to at least KDE 3.5. It's awesome that it's out early but I'm a little disappointed with the desktop.

You were given an early release to assist in seeding BT before the release today (Tuesday 08 August 2006). Thank you for all the testing and continued bug reporting (some good catches here).

Before I burned it to the ground, I did an apt-get dist-upgrade and got xmms, aol dialer and something about isp-scripts as upgrades. According to the Release Notes, lotsa changes to Firefox/Thunderbird, the KDE theme and other items. What I got was NOT a dist-upgrade response, so NO, it does NOT work.

Where do they keep sources.list files? I remember reading that you needed an updated sources list file for it to work...

Should work occur on this version? If it was me, right now I would concentrate on fixing infrastructure type things, and with these releases work on the testing the infrastructure and framework to see if it is going to be a usable system. Of course, I probably do not understand what all is going on - heck I know I don't! But with what I would like to see in *spire, right now I would be working on cleaning up the pool/warehouse/repo and becoming a bit more debian-ish in regards to the repo. If that is possible with CNR. I would also be working on the OS underneath everything to try and straighten out some of the dependencies so if someone wanted to uninstall jack or 8x5patch it won't rip out the whole system. That is what I would be doing with the current releases. Then once everything is a bit more flexible, then start updating and I think it would be less problems. Sorry, I did not mean to go on a tirade here. Truly loving the OSS edition...
