First let me say I love Linspire. But I read a story here http://www.linux-watch.com/news/NS2690081391.html and am starting to wonder if I'm making the right choice by staying with Linspire and company.

Anybody who has worked in this world knows the top tier leadership is just that the top tier. Each level is hopefuly equipted with hard working quality employees who work well and with initiative.
Since Linspire finally had their first profitable quarter the loss of a few top tier positions probobly shouldn't mean much. Kevin, had a vision for the company. To be profitable in the market he also obviously had a plan. That plan still exists and is more than likely going to be modified by the new CEO. The loss of Kevin and possibly other key players just gives the company a chance for some new ideas to come into the pool and fresh leadership gives them a fresh energy on pursuing their goals. |

I would not worry. Best thing that could happen is that the change will involve great changes and improvements. Worse case (for you ) is that it goes under and you will have to find another distro. I do not know the future. I have no crystal ball. I can see that KC went to Sadie's which is another MR owned venture. I have seen other familiar faces at MP3Tunes and CNR.com. So, it is not like some of these faces have left the void and I do not know if I like the twist about only mentioning KC's involvement in the campaign. It leads on to believe that he is completely outside the MR umbrella which gives further credence to rumors.
Do not speculate over speculations. Enjoy the moment, use the OS you like.

The best thing you can do for Spire is to purchase the products that you use. CNR or Linspire preferably both. If you run multiple machines put Lin on one and free on the rest.
Purchase the finished product. And then trouble shoot. If you have a problem report a bug. If you have a solution post it in the forum and pass it on to Spire. You may be the type who doesn't like to complain, but if you are using Linux I highly doubt that to be the case. Companies need the positive and the negative feed back so they can improve their next line. LINDOWS Inc can save a lot of money trouble shooting if we stay involved in the freespire project. Each trouble ticket we send them gives them more time to focus on the solution than finding the problem. Thankfuly at Linspire 6.0/Freespire 2.0 based off of Ubuntu 7.04 there are fewer problems than say Lindows 3.0 or the unreleased verisions. For all the nay sayers out there saying we have too many problems in the conversion to Ubuntu for the base keep in mind spire had to change our dependencies all together. Now that spire has released its first version based off of ubuntu the bulk of the depencies have already been taken care of. We can expect a much smoother transition here on out. |

You can think of it like a forest fire, a necessary (cyclical) clearing out that makes room for fresh and vibrant growth. I don't even think that you need worry about finding another distro in that more distros are easing the difficulties of installation and usage. "Worry is like paying interest on a debt that you may never owe" (G. Papazian, The Complete Joy of Homebrew), or like my *dad* always said: "What, me worry?"
