Sound issue again

I would like to go over my sound issue again.
I have a hp 4900ze laptop.
I am running the latest version of Linspire.
I am getting a click when I boot up. But that is all.
Some one suggested I do several things I did not understand and I would like to try it again.

The most simple thing to try is opening a konsole terminal and type

alsaconf

Then follow the instructions. This should load an alsa device emulation in order to override the jack sound server.

It works pretty good.
