There was a thread in the Linspire forums about this issue. It has something to do with changing the default settings for icons, I believe in KDE. If the image is larger than the default size that image is displayed. Sorry, I can't be more specific.

Thanks -- pity there are now 2 separate fora.

The Linspire forums are still available for viewing, but much of it will become obselete, as it does not apply to freespire and future versions of Linspire.

You get the 'stylized beach scene' because the file is too lage for Linspire to generate a preview at the default settings.
To change the settings, go to Control Center>>File Browsing>>File Manager. Click on the Previews & Mata-Data tab. Move the slider to the right to increase the value.

Maybe what you want is this --
From menu bar -- Settings > Configure Konqueror > Behavior > check 'Show tips' and check 'Show previews in tips'.

What is the system cost of enlarging the minimum size?

What is the system cost of enlarging the minimum size?Depends on your system specs. It will require some cpu cycles to generate and render the thumbnail and preview images. I have a 2.8 cpu with 1GB of RAM, and I see no performance 'hit'. If you are using a slower system, or one with the minimum amount of RAM, you may see a difference (but I doubt it).

So -- silly question -- why is the default set to something so low?
