Hi,

I simply cannot connect to the Internet with Linux.

I used the dial-up KPPP program.
Setting up the account was simple enough, until it came to connecting - KPPP simply refuses to find my modem!
I have tried every item on the Modem list, but they all fail.

The exception to the rule is:

/dev/ttys0
/dev/ttys1
/dev/ttys2
/dev/ttys3

They search for the modem and then decide the 'Modem Is Busy'.

I am using a Toshiba Equium L20-264.
I hate to compare Linux with Windows, but at least setting up the connection on Windows was simple; you just typd in the ISP number, your account info, and away you went.

I did locate this info in my system specs via the Control Console -
Unknown/Others:Identification
Vendor: ‎ATI Technologies Inc.
Description: ‎IXP AC'97 Modem
Media class: ‎COMMUNICATION_MODEM
Connection
Bus: ‎PCI
Bus PCI #: ‎0
PCI device #: ‎20
PCI function #: ‎6
Vendor ID: ‎0x1002
Device ID: ‎0x4378
Sub vendor ID: ‎0x1179
Sub device ID: ‎0xff31
Misc
Module: ‎snd-atiixp-modem

But none of this appears on the Modems list.

Thanks for your help
